The Way of Abundance

ABIDing.ABOUNDing

Abiding in the word of God without compromise is deeply rooted and grounded in the love of our faithful God, in His great mercy, He chose us. Fruitfulness is God's promise to those who remain steadfast in Him. The only fruit that will endure to eternity, is the fruit which grows out of love from the cross of Christ.

In Christ, we are called to a life of faithfulness and fruitfulness. True success and happiness in this fallen, imperfect world is choosing to live by God’s design and purposes – loving God and the neighbor, anchored on the truths of his eternal word, constantly guided and filled by his Spirit.

John 15:5-11

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 'If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

The Way of the Blessed

BROKENness.BOLdness

Fear and pride are common ways and motivations for seeking spirituality, actions and joyful living but are certain to fail.  True freedom, liberty and boldness to live a life of holiness and godliness is only possible through brokenness before God.

Those who recognize their spiritual bankruptcy before a holy God and with utmost humility call on the name of Christ as the only hope and way to a life with God for now and eternity  through the finished work of Christ on the cross shall truly know Him and the Son he sent to redeem the world.

Matthew 5:3

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The way of life

LOVING GOD.LOVING OTHERS

Love of God is the most foundational aspect of any God-glorifying, Christ-exalting and Spirit-guided actions and thoughts. Without this, it is impossible to please Him and much more impossible to achieve any efforts towards loving the neighbour. Hence this is the first and ultimate element of God’s  commandments. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians proclaims the indispensability of love for any human endeavour, actions and efforts for without it – our sacrifices, charities and success will amount to nothing but an irritating noise.

We are to pursue God with all our hearts, mind and strengths to know Him and the Son he sent for by knowing Him through his words that we can only begin to realise and comprehend the depth and breath of his gracious sovereign love and acceptance. Then we can truly be free to love and accept our neighbour sacrificially without fear or pride.

Matthew 12:29-31

Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Ephesians 5:1-2

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

We are to pursue, love and admonish one another in God’s word, not neglecting to meet together and encouraging one another as community of believers committed to the gospel. We are to boldly engage the watching world to testify about the love of God and the joy-filled life He offers to anyone who will believe and embrace the gospel.  We are to endure and persevere in working out our salvation with fear and trembling.

We have to sacrificially invest in building each other up, committing to serve and love one another at all costs to declare loudly to the watching world the kind of kingdom-focused communities Jesus came to create, redeem and sustain until He returns to ushers the new heaven and the new earth.

We are to pursue godliness and contentment as great gains and serve the city lovingly and sacrificially while boldly proclaiming the gospel without compromises.

Hebrews 10:23-25

‘Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near

 Ephesians 4:1-3

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.
